The Clemson Tigers must have been happy to see the month of April pass by last week, as they completed a month in which they went just 8-10. If there were hopes that a turn of the calendar might help spur a winning streak, they seem to be coming true, as Clemson has been a perfect 4-0 in May.
The Tigers look to keep their perfect month going Wednesday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium as they take on the High Point Panthers. High Point (25-18) comes in riding a 2 game losing streak.
Clemson (29-19) will send RHP Clate Schmidt to the mound while High Point will counter with LHP Jon Carlson. Schmidt (4-6) enters the game with a 4.40 ERA in 47.0 IP on the season for the Tigers.
Clemson has 8 regular season games remaining, including the tilt on Wednesday night. Remaining perfect in the month of May and finishing the season on a 12 game winning streak is not out of the picture. Clemson’s remaining opponents are a combined 80-105 (.432) on the season. An unbeaten 12-0 finish to the regular season would be a fantastic boost to the Tigers as they enter ACC Tournament play, where they will already be a top seed.
First pitch Wednesday night is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
