Richard Yeargin Spurns Notre Dame, Signs With Clemson

Richard Yeargin III made what everyone knew was coming official today. The Florida DE/OLB signed with Clemson, a week after decommitting from Notre Dame. Yeargin, the 24th ranked LB in the country according to rivals.com, stands at 6’3″ and 215 lbs. I project him as a defensive end for the Tigers. With the signing of other linebackers today such as Korie Rogers, Kendall Joseph, and Jalen Williams, the position is loaded with depth for the coming years. With very little defensive line talent coming in this year, I think Yeargin will fit in nicely into the DE role. He will have to put on a little weight in order to play in the ACC, but remember, second team All American Vic Beasley, who is returning for his senior year, stands at just 6’3″ 225, and could be a first round pick in the 2015 NFL draft. I’m not saying that Yeargin is Vic Beasley, but I am saying that the body types are similar, and Yeargin has the potential to be a good pass rusher for the Tigers.
