ACC Football: Week Eight Game Previews and Picks Against the Spread

It has downright been a terrible start to Ole Woody Smalls College Football picks in the ACC so far in 2013. After a 3-3 first week, the best this sports writer could muster was an o-fer at 0-6 in Week Seven.

But with the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes at the North Carolina Tar Heels on ESPN tonight to kick off the week and with the game of the ages in No. 5 Florida State Seminoles at No. 3 Clemson Tigers to end ACC action, this guy is feeling pretty excited about running the table.

So sit back, get your pen and paper out and let’s listen to what Woody’s Log has to detail about Week Eight in the ACC.

So to recap the winners for Week Eight:

No. 10 Miami Hurricanes at North Carolina Tar Heels (+9.5)
Tonight – 7:45 p.m. – ESPN – XM/Sirius 85 The U & 91 UNC

A tale of two teams heading in two different directions in 2013. But Thursday Nights are were Top Ranked ACC teams go to die. Miami will pull this one out, but will not cover, 38-34.

Syracuse Orange at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (-7.5)
SAT – 12:30 p.m. – ACC Network – XM/Sirius 194/138

Georgia Tech is due to have one of those games were all things are clicking. This will be the game. The Yellow Jackets will win and cover 38-33.

Duke Blue Devils at Virginia Cavaliers (-2.5)
SAT – 3:30 p.m. – Fox Regional Networks – XM/Sirius 191/137

There is no team in the nation harder to figure out than Virginia. They will look terrible this week as Duke wins, 34-20.

Maryland Terrapins at Wake Forest Demon Deacons (+5.5)
SAT 3:30 p.m. – ESPNU – XM/Sirius 193/134

Wake may have figured somethings out, but the Terps are just a better team. Maryland will win and cover, 27-17

Old Dominion Monarchs at Pittsburgh Panthers (PK)
SAT – 7 p.m. – ACC Network – XM/Sirius 191/137

Let’s just say Pitt puts up 50 and wins.

No. 5 Florida State Seminoles at No. 3 Clemson Tigers (-3)
SAT – 8 p.m. – ABC – XM/Sirius 85 FSU & 91 Clemson

There is something special about a big time College Football game at night in Death Valley. This is an epic game between two evenly matched teams. Clemson wins, 31-27.

Alright ladies and gentlemen, book it and let’s see if we can get this season turned around. Enjoy your ACC games this weekend!
