It didn’t take long before Chris Fowler and the ESPN College GameDay crew made the announcement they were coming back for a second time to set up shop with the No. 3 Clemson Tigers (6-0, 4-0) as they host the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles (5-0, 3-0) this Saturday night in Death Valley.

The last time the mothership made a return trip to any campus was in 2007 as the mothership landed twice in both Baton Rouge and Eugene for the LSU Tigers and the Oregon Ducks separately. This does mark the first time ESPN has made return trips to the same location in the first eight weeks of a season and it is the third trip ever for GameDay to Clemson. The really great news for the Tigers is that Clemson is 2-0 in the previous appearances by Flower and the crew from Bristol.
This weekend contest is also a historic one for ACC Football as it marks a matchup with a pair of Top Five teams for the first time in the BCS era. You know that is making Commissioner John Swofford absolutely giddy to have two of the league’s signature programs battling it out for the entire nation in October. Keeping a single team in the BCS discussion has been hard enough over the past 10 or so years, but the ACC finds itself with three undefeateds heading into Week Eight. To be honest, it is too bad one of these teams has to lose this week.
GameDay will kick things off at 9 a.m. as usual on Saturday morning while the game will kick off at 8 p.m. on ABC. FSU right now is a 2.5 favorite on the road to open up the week.
